Coast and Castles Walk - Northumberland - May 2014
64 Miles of walking, perfect weather and the most wonderful group of pupils and staff.
We arrived back at school after 8 days of adventure, walking everyday between 6 and 12 miles on empty white beaches.
We managed to fit in a visit to the Longstone Lighthouse. We climbed to the very top! RAF Boulmer showed us around their Sea King rescue helicopter, we even got to sit in the pilot's seat! We splashed in the sea, roasted sausages and marshmallows on a beach fire and explored crystal clear rock pools. We passed castles, watched the fishermen bring in their catch and learnt all about tides and sand dunes. Broomstick lessons at Alnwick Castle on the Quidditch pitch were great fun on our last morning along with dressing up and scary ghoststories.
We had our moments of home sickness, exhaustion, fun and lots of laughter and singing...... not sure that being a teacher could ever get more exciting and rewarding. Thank you Jake, Owen, Matthew, Sophie, Lee, Luke, Steven, Chris, Emma, Harrison, Sue, Debs, Ben, Tracey, Jan and Charlie for a very, very special expedition!
